Hayden on Rally Otago - 13th May 15
We have had an amazing weekend here in Dunedin for Rally Otago and have enjoyed every minute of driving the classic BDA. It was also an added bonus to not only win the classic rally, but to win the outright national championship rally overall ahead of the 4WD cars by a mere 2 seconds. A huge thanks must go out to Tony Gosling for letting me drive his car again and our team who did an amazing job with both the preparation and work on-event.

Spectators got a feast of action at the Autosport Clubs 2015 running of the Ram Paddock Road gravel sprint on Sunday 26th April. A mean 7km piece of public road, Ram Paddock offers high speed brows and sweeping roads at the start, tight hill country action in the middle and fast stuff again at the finish. Some of the brows are big, many are small, a few of the little lumps reveal a tight corner that it’s too late to make if you haven’t got on the brakes beforehand. It’s a drivers road for sure. Nine Real McCoy BDA Escorts would go past during each of the three timed runs, .  Read more >>

Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) President Andrew Papadopoulos and MotorSport New Zealand President (MSNZ) Shayne Harris announced today that the two organisations had agreed on a shared set of technical regulations for a new 4WD rally car category.
“Both Australia and New Zealand identified a need to update our aging fleet of 4WD competition
cars. Many of these had been built to comply with the FIA Group N formula. In both countries our local regulations had progressively incorporated changes in the 4WD category to keep this type of car competing while new categories were emerging in Europe and elsewhere”
Mr Papadopoulos said.“In 2014 Australia and New Zealand agreed to work toward a common set of regulations for a newgeneration 4WD category rally cars that acknowledged the uptake of the FIA R5 and S2000 categories in Europe but that also recognised such cars are unaffordable for most competitors in this region” Mr Papadopoulos said.“These new regulations will permit a competitor to buy or construct a car that incorporates all the latest safety developments found in the FIA-specification cars that compete at the top level, but at a significantly lower cost”..

So it has felt like a long time since Mexico, buts it now time to get back in the saddle with this weekends Rally Argentina. Since Mexico, it was good to spend some time at home, working with our partners and catching up with friends. We then returned to Europe to complete a 2 day test in Portugal. Where we prepared for Portugal/Sardinia rallies, but also confirmed our setups for Argentina. At this test we discovered that the direction we went with for our Mexico setup was maybe not correct, but we have made changes and are now much happier with the direction we are heading in. We know in testing compared to our team mates that we have the speed, its just taking a little more time to put together on the rallies - but we will get there..  Read more >>
