As previously announced, the test, which controversially clashes with the Bathurst 12 Hour, will be run over two days for the first time.
A note recently released to teams confirmed just two hours of open test running will take place on the Sunday.The two hour hit-out will be held in one block from 1000 on Sunday before a 60 minute track walk for fans on pit straight.A one-at-a-time, full field Shootout will then be held later in the afternoon to complete the day’s action.. There was no shortage of podium finishes as New Zealand drivers continued to make their marks in major motorsport around the world.
From Scott Dixon in the IndyCar Series to Mitch Evans in the GP2s, from Richie Stanaway in the GP3s to Earl Bamber and Dylan Hartley in their Porches New Zealand's rich heritage continued at full throttle.
Dixon was disappointed that he couldn't defend his IndyCars title and that he crashed out of the famous Indy 500 But there were still two wins, a pole, four podiums and 11 top-5 efforts to prove that he remains a force in a series that switches from ovals to street circuits.It all added up to Dixon keeping alive his streak of finishing in the top-three in points every year dating back to 2006. He earned himself another contract with Target Chip Ganassi Racing.
Mitch Evans was full of anticipation in his second year at GP2 level as he signed for defending team champions Russian Time.The 20-year-old Aucklander proved that when his team, under new management, got the car right, he was as good as any driver with his aggressive style.
Sadly there were too many inconsistencies for him to mount a championship challenge though six podium efforts, including back to back feature wins at Silverstone and Hockenheimring were testimony to his ability on the glamour tracks.They were also proof that he could one day fulfil his dream of attracting Formula One interest.
Stanaway's season a level below in GP3 was even more frustrating. He was right in the title hunt at the halfway stage, buoyed by a feature win in Hungary and sprint win in Britain. But just four championship points in the final six races saw him limp out of contention.
Bamber proved the driver to bring home the titles in 2014 with a classy hat-trick in the highly competitive Porsche Carrera class that also used the Formula One meetings to showcase its cars and talent.Operating on the highly sought after Porsche scholarship worth 20,000 Euros, Bamber dominated around the world.He clinically defended his Porsche Carrera Cup Asia title and then set his sights on the Porsche Supercup.He quickly secured enough points to guarantee himself the rookie of the year title and then trumped that by claiming the drivers scholarship.His reward was a full works drive with Porches in 2015, where he will join a lineup that includes Hartley.. It is great to confirm our program with Hyundai Motorsport for 2015 for a minimum of 9 events in the WRC. We will start with round 2 at Rally Sweden and continue from there.It will be an exciting year and it is great to have more events and testing that will enable us to develop more and push for some top results – particularly in the second part of the season. A much improved Jamie Whincup made the semi-finals at the Race of Champions in Barbados, where David Coulthard eventually prevailed.
The six-time V8 Supercars champion provided the shock of the competition by knocking out reigning winner Romain Grosjean in the group stage.
Excelling in the new-for-2014 Stadium Super Trucks against the Frenchman, Whincup then took to the Audi R8s to defeat NASCAR star Kurt Busch in the quarter-finals.

Earl Bamber is an official Porsche - 14th Dec 14
24-year-old Earl Bamber will join Porsche's factory GT squard in 2015, competing in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. He was recently awarded the Porsche Motorsport International Cup Scholarship.
According to a release from Porsche, Bamber was supported during the 2014 season with funding of 200,000 Euro. In the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Bamber went back-to-back, defending his 2013 title.. Read more >>

Ganassi confirms 2015 for Dixon - 9th Dec 14
Target Chip Ganassi Racing officially announced on Monday that three-time series champion Scott Dixon will return in the No. 9 Target Dallara-Chevrolet for the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series. No reference was made to Dixon's teammates, but the team indicated that additional announcements about its 2015 plans will be forthcoming over the next 10 days.
"Although we finished 2014 strong, we didn't have the year we wanted to, at least not by our standards," said Dixon, for whom 2015 will be his 14th season with the team – the longest tenure for a driver in the organization's history.. Read more >>

Driving a Subaru WRX STI with Jamie Sergeant in the co-driver’s seat, Windus took victory in the Bendigo Tyre Centre Rally Bonnie Doon by 35 seconds from 2011 ARC winners, Justin Dowel and Matt Lee in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.In a star-studded field, Mark Pedder was third in a borrowed Volkswagen Polo S2000, while Simon Evans made a welcome return to rallying in his brother’s Honda Civic Type R, finishing in fourth place. The top five was rounded out by Tristan Penhall in a Subaru Impreza.

Christchurch boys set to compete fo - 4th Dec 14
Five drivers from Canterbury are expected to be the front runners contesting for the round win at the Ace Hire South Island Formula Ford Championship this weekend at Teretonga Park in Invercargill. Christchurch school boy Marcus Armstrong currently leads the series on 96 points from rival Caleb Cross (75 points) who is just one ahead of Michael Collins with Ryan Yardley close behind.
