Rally Australia is a special event for us, not only for the fact that it’s the closest we get to a home round, but also because of the support we receive. From the large group of people we hosted, to the 100’s of other Kiwis that made the journey and the staggering support we received on social media – it was an amazing experience to be part of it all – so thank you!.  Read more >>

Ultimate Rally Group - 12th Sep 15
There's a new name - The Ultimate Rally Group - and structure for the company which motorsport event organiser Peter Martin set up when he took over running the annual Targa New Zealand tarmac motor rally. It's been a busy few weeks for Martin, who in the space of a month has acquired both the Uncles Club track day business (which runs at the Hampton Downs motor racing circuit) and the Silver Fern Rally which runs every second year in the South Island. With the two multi-day Targa events, the three-day Targa Bambina which this year ran from Auckland to Whitianga and on to Rotorua in May, and the upcoming 21st annual Targa New Zealand over six days in late October, Martin's business now has real critical mass; hence the need to address its structure..  Read more >>

With over 60 entries already confirmed for the Trusthouse Racetech Daybreaker Rally Wairarapa, being held on 3 October, the main interest will rightly be about who will be the new national rally champion. Being the final round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship, it is all or nothing for these competitors to stake their claim at this event..  Read more >>

Mitch Evans has scored his first GP2 Series victory of the season following a dramatic final lap pass on Arthur Pic in the sprint race at Monza.
He started his weekend at the 5.793 Monza circuit with a strong qualifying performance, but had to fight from the rear of the grid in the feature race due to a breach of technical regulations. He finished third in that race then capped his successful weekend with a hard-fought win in yesterday’s sprint race. Evans, 21, won the GP3 series at Monza in 2012. He won the Toyota Racing Series in 2010 and 2011.

After the long 26 hour flight home immediately following Rally Germany, it meant a leisurely 2 hour flight here to Australia for this weeks rally......makes a nice change.
As soon as we crossed the flying finish of the last stage in Germany, my mind and preparation turned to a Rally Australia. It's an event I have been naturally looking forward to all year being that its the closest we get to competing at home. But with our recent form on gravel events, this rally will be our best chance at a repeat podium from Italy - but by no means an easy feat..

There were lots of competitive fights going on throughout the field at the 2015 Royce Watson Memorial Hanmer Rally on Saturday 4th September. With only one round to go in the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship all of the titles are still up for grabs, meaning that the Trusthouse Racetech Daybreaker Rally Wairarapa will be the scene of a fast and furious fight for the silverware.
Ben Hunt is the favourite to take the overall title, especially considering his top form all season, and his 24 point lead. However Phil Campbell does have a mathematical chance of snatching victory. With a maximum of 30 points up for grabs on this final round, the competitors have to finish to make these points count. So for Campbell the equation is simple. Win the event and hope Hunt doesn’t finish. A tough ask but then again stranger things have happened in motorsport before..

Toyota’s Mirai hydrogen car kicked off last weekend’s World Rally Championship event based at Trier, West Germany.
Used as a 'zero' course car, experienced rally driver and journalist Mitsuhiro Kunisawa used the car to precede competitors through the stage of the all tarmac event.
To be rally-ready, the Mirai was fitted with a roll cage, race seats and full harness seat belts as well as competition tyres and improved brake pads. To further aid Kunisawa, Toyota Germany provided a mobile hydrogen refuelling unit, which fills the plastic and carbon fibre tank in just three minutes.
The 100 kWs, 335Nm fuel cell power train remained unchanged. It fuses together hydrogen and oxygen in a fuel cell stack to produce electricity – powering an electric motor connected to the front wheels. It’s good for 0-100 km/h in 9.6 seconds and can hit 178 km/h flat out..

Canterbury has a wealth of great gravel roads suitable for Rallying and Sprints. For round four of their 2015 Gravel Sprint Series on Sunday 23rd August, the Autosport Club chose Cust. The Cust Sprint is ideal to test set ups for Rallying, as the fastest cars will reach 200km/s along the straights, there are some enjoyable sweeping corners in the middle, and several low speed tight 90 degree corners to test braking bravery and low speed drive at the exit..  Read more >>

Porsche Team took a memorable 1-2 finish on home soil at the Nurburgring today as the No.17 Porsche 919 Hybrid car claimed a maiden win for Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley. It was the second consecutive WEC win for Porsche after its Le Mans triumph in June.

A bumper 62,000 crowd enjoyed three days of excellent WEC action on the first ever visit to Germany. The fans could not have gone home happier as Porsche took not only a 1-2 overall, but also victory and second place in the LMGTE Pro class..
