The Autosport Club provided a never before raced bit of road in Mt Thomas Forest for the last round of their 2015 Gravel Sprint Series. The 4km sprint delivered a constantly winding road that climbed and fell through the ‘mountain’, adding variety to the sprint series which had used some faster public roads in earlier rounds. This road had just two real straights, one of which went steep downhill and ended with a tight turn with unforgiving drops both sides. There would be some new names appear high in the results..  Read more >>

Ferdinand Habsburg of Austria is returning for a second tilt at the Toyota Racing Series, which starts with the Lady Wigram Trophy race at Ruapuna Park near Christchurch on January 16 and 17. He contested the 2015 TRS championship with Victory Motor Racing, finishing 11th with a best result of second place in the second race at the Hampton Downs round. Well as some of you may have already read today - it's with great privilege that we confirm a new 3-year contract with Hyundai Motorsport in the WRC. I think it was one of the worst kept secrets that we were continuing with the team but to get a multi year deal is what we have been working hard for over the past two seasons.
It's amazing to have the security of the next few years - in which time we aim to be at the top. It also means the pressure of performing for a job is less and can focus more on preparation, driving faster and achieving better results.

Well what a challenging week that was with Tour de Corse. We knew before the event that with the unique logistics and itinerary of the rally that it was going to be challenging, but the horrendous weather on Thursday/Friday certainly threw us all a curve ball. It was four seasons in one day at the Trusthouse Racetech Daybreaker Rally Wairarapa, making for tricky conditions and markedly different special stage tests. But as the rain and mud cleared to a sunny and dusty afternoon, it was the Summerfield siblings who reigned supreme.
Making the most of their road position, Matt and Nicole Summerfield took their opportunity on the first run of the 31km long Ridge Road stage, blitzing the rest of the field by 30 seconds and establishing a 24 second lead over David Holder. It then became a battle between these two for line honours, and a nail biting finish.
With Summerfield maintaining a wafer thin 0.7 second lead over Holder after the penultimate stage, it was to be all or nothing on the last high speed test of North Road. Despite Summerfield setting a reasonable time, it was still a nervous wait at the end. Then the pressure was relieved as news came through that Holder had spun. In fact it was a very high speed spin on one of the fastest parts of the road, and Holder looses 25 seconds in the process..

There will be a regrouping of classes with the V8ST and TLX cars forming Class One and the TL cars forming Class 2. Class 1 will be on one grid with Class 2 behind them in their own grid. There is also a new class labeled ‘Invitation’ which will run with the Class One competitors, however they will not be eligible for points

Mount Maunganui rally driver David Holder will be looking to reward his supporters with a strong result at the final round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship, the Trusthouse Racetech Rally Wairarapa.
In what has been a tough season for the 26-year old, Holder has struggled to make the start line since a major crash in the opening round of the championship, but was able to make a comeback at the recent Coromandel round to record a podium finish. Holder sees the final round of the championship as the perfect opportunity to deliver a result to the many people who have supported him throughout the year, and in particular NZ Forest Leasing and VINZ who made the final event possible..
