Five individuals were recognised for their outstanding contributions to motorsport in 2013-2014 at Saturday night’s annual MotorSport NZ (MSNZ) Awards dinner, held this year in Dunedin. Local hero Stephane Richelmi led a processional GP2 sprint race in Monaco from start to finish on Saturday afternoon. The result was his first victory in the series and made it two from two for the DAMS team this weekend, following on from team-mate Jolyon Palmer's feature race win on Friday. GARTH TANDER has chased down Erebus Motorsport young gun Jack LeBrocq to win a thrilling Australian GT 101 Classic at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The former V8 Supercars champion, driving with Tony Quinn in an Aston Martin Vantage GT3, passed the LeBrocq / Richard Muscat Mercedes Benz two laps from the time-critical race finish to take a thrilling victory in the inaugural running of Australia’s newest GT enduro. Mitch Evans narrowly missed out on securing his maiden GP2 race win after being pipped to victory by Jolyon Palmer in a dramatic feature race at Monaco. The New Zealander led for the opening 10 laps but as his super-soft tyres went off Palmer pounced leaving Evans to battle for a podium finish. 2014 sees Rally Wairarapa and Wairarapa Car Club celebrating 40 years of special stage motorsport in the Wairarapa and Tararua regions.
1974 saw 80 cars compete in the Ngaumu Clubmans Rally, which was won, by the then up and coming, Rod Millen. Since then there have been a variety of events, from club status with 20 cars, through to hosting rounds of the national rally championship with as many as 120 entries..

One year on from his elevation to main game V8 Supercars, Chaz Mostert has nabbed his second race win in V8 Supercars, and first as a factory team driver with Pepsi Max Crew FPR. He became the 10th different winner so far this season, crossing the line first in the 200km dash at the Perth 400.
