India’s Gaurav Gill and Australian based co-driver Glenn Macneall clean swept today’s six special stages concluding the 2014 VINZ International Rally of Whangarei - snatching victory from overnight leader and team mate Jan Kopecký. The opening round of the 2014 FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) saw competitors head south for today’s six remaining special stages – to roads more familiar to Gill, driver of the MRF Tyres ŠKODA Fabia S2000 car..  Read more >>

The opening round of qualifying for the 2014 WTCC season is complete and it was a Citroën driver taking pole position, but not the one everyone expected. José María López won the first qualifying shootout in WTCC history and this was the icing on the cake for Citroën on their maiden appearance in the series. The C-Elisée cars dominated the field, filling the three top spots in each session of this season’s opener at Marrakech. Eventually Yvan Muller and Sébastien Loeb qualified in second and third, but any of them could have been on pole as well. .  Read more >>

Team MRF will begin their campaign for a hat-trick of FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championships this weekend, with the running of the Rally of Whangarei in New Zealand. Using their Race Torque prepared Skoda Fabia Super 2000s, the team clinched the championship in 2012 with Australian Chris Atkinson, and then again in 2013 with Indian star Gaurav Gill..  Read more >>

Hi there,
Well the motorsport season is well and truly underway!!!!! There has been plenty of action from whichever form of motorsport you follow.
We've been to a couple of events lately...........
Melbourne Formula One Grand Prix. I've always enjoyed going to Melbourne for the first Grand Prix of the year. This year we were robbed of the glorious sound that a normally aspirated V8 engine revving to 18,000 rpm makes. The powers that be at the FIA in Paris have decided to turn F1 into an economy run, and introduced turbo charged V6 engines with various energy recovery systems. The cars were still pretty quick and on TV with the commentary it wont make a lot of difference, but as far as the live action goes, it is a totally new experience..

Adding to the illustrious list of entries for this year’s VINZ International Rally of Whangarei will be a group of 39 Kiwi teams also out to measure themselves and score against the internationals tackling the 11-13 April event. Covering 220.87 kilometres of fast flowing rural road in the Far North and Whangarei districts the test of man and machine against the clock is also the opening round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC), Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship, driven by VINZ (NZRC) and Top Half Rally Series (THS)..  Read more >>

Mazda2 drivers, Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Gelsomino, have increased their lead in the 2014 ECB Australian Rally Championship (ARC) after claiming the Heat 2 victory today at the Quit Forest Rally, and taking the overall rally win. After finishing second to the Walkinshaw Racing Renault Clio of Scott Pedder/Dale Moscatt in Saturday's Heat 1, Reeves was determined to get back on the top of the podium today. Heat 2 didn't start as well as planned, though, and put the RallySchool.com.au Mazda team on the back foot from the word go..  Read more >>

Mark Winterbottom has won a race at Winton Motor Raceway for the second consecutive year, becoming the sixth different driver to win this year and scoring the first victory for Ford in 2014. It was an emphatic 9.49 second victory over James Courtney, and has catapulted the Ford Pepsi Max Crew driver to second in the Championship points, behind Craig Lowndes..  Read more >>

Sebastien Ogier has swept to victory at the Rally de Portugal in emphatic style winning the Power Stage to take maximum points.
After trailing on the opening leg, Ogier put the hammer down on the second day and through the final leg’s stages he was untouchable.
The Volkswagen driver’s final margin of victory over Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Fiesta) was 43.2 seconds with Mads Ostberg (Citroen DS3) a further 29.2 seconds further back..

Scott McLaughlin has recorded a maiden V8 Supercars Championship pole position for both himself and Volvo ahead of Race 9 at Winton.
Five-times a qualifying runner-up prior to today, the 20-year-old proved the pace-setter on both green tyre runs. McLaughlin opened his account with a 1:21.57s on his first set before improving further to 1:21.51s on his second. Shane van Gisbergen and Fabian Coulthard joined McLaughlin in making it a Kiwi one-two-three for the second consecutive day..

ROSBERG on F1 Pole - 6th Apr 14
Nico Rosberg has turned the tables on his team-mate to secure pole position ahead of the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix.
After taking the prime spot at the season-opening Melbourne round and last week at Sepang, Lewis Hamilton will start from second. Australian Daniel Ricciardo extracted decent pace out of the Red Bull to qualify third fastest. However Ricciardo is subject to a 10-place grid drop following his troubled Malaysian GP last week when his team released him from a stop unsafely..
