Lee Holdsworth scored Erebus Motorsport’s first V8 Supercars victory with a late-race pass on Fabian Coulthard in Race 8 at Winton.
The #4 Mercedes took the lead with just three laps remaining as tyre life again proved a crucial factor.Pole-sitter Coulthard had lost the front-running to Scott McLaughlin off the start, before regaining the lead when the Volvo was forced to pit with an electrical problem nine laps in. Coulthard managed the gap back to Holdsworth for much of the race, but eventually fell to third behind the Mercedes and an equally fast-finishing Mark Winterbottom.. Team Citroën Australia have had a mixed first day of competition at the Quit Forest Rally in Busselton, south of Perth. The event marks the second round in the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship, and the 30th anniversary of the rally in the popular tourist region. At the end of Day 1, Tony Sullens and Julia Barkley round out the top 3 in in third place, while team mates Adrian Coppin and Tim Batten sit in seventh.

Mikko Hirvonen grabbed a final stage lead in Rally de Portugal tonight after a dramatic day in which a host of top drivers crashed out. The Finn became the day’s third different leader, winning the final test in his Ford Fiesta RS to relegate Sébastien Ogier. Volkswagen has made a successful start to the Rally Portugal. Top time for Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F), second and third place for Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Mikko Markkula (N/FIN) – all three Polo R WRCs came out on top over the first 3.27 kilometres of the 339.48 kilometres that make up the fourth round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). The toughest rally of the season opened with the spectator stage in Lisbon. Having started on asphalt, the remaining 15 special stages will take place on gravel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. Drivers like it fast at Auchenflowe - 2nd Apr 14
With close to 9 km’s of smooth gravel, three bridges, some fast straights and several high speed blind brows, Auchenflower Rd provides a real challenge for drivers and cars. To be on the pace you will need to attack some of the brows flat out in top gear. Thirty-six drivers took on the challenge at the Autosport Club’s Auchenflower Rd Gravel Sprint on 30th March. Allcomers to have greater prominenc - 1st Apr 14
Competitors in the Allcomers category at next month’s Rally of Otago will have a greater prominence, thanks to a revised seeding order in the May 10 and 11 event. In an initiative introduced for all New Zealand Rally Championship rounds, Allcomers competitors will be seeded, on merit, amongst those crews contesting the NZRC component of the rally. Previously, the Allcomers competitors were at the back of the field, with many of the spectators having moved on to the next location before they arrived.. Read more >>
